The "Q" stands for Yield Strength, and "235" indicates a guaranteed minimum yield strength of 253MPa（for diametres ≤ 16mm）. The "-A" designation indicates the lowest quality level among the Q235 grades, allowing for the highest permissible levels of impurities (Sulfur and Phosphorus) and typically not requiring impact testing. This steel offers a practical combination of moderate strength, good weldability, and desirable plasticity at an economical price.
